As you can tell by the title, I'm on a bit of Incubus kick lately. But that isn't the point of this post.
That Saudi tanker that got held up by Somali pirates? It's free now after the company decided to bow to the pirates' wishes and deliver a $3 million dollar ransom for the tanker and its $100 million dollar cargo. Smart move, I guess, considering the pirates had a bit of a fight over how the ransom should be divided, and five pirates drowned after their boar was engulfed with water during their escape.
I love pirates because they're basically a big "fuck you" to not just the government, but everyone. They're men who live their lives by their own terms, and really can't be caged. They have a type of freedom I really envy. Obviously their lives are constantly plagued by violence and crime, so I guess I wouldn't be down with that; if only we could travel back in time to the good old days where the world was undiscovered and sailing the open seas in search of adventure was a viable career choice.
Ugh. Now I have the urge to break out Sid Meier's Pirates! again and resume my high seas career. While listening to "He's a Pirate." Yeah. That sounds good.
